And if there were no titles, more players would just quit the game completely because they had nothing left to do. I'd think player would rather grind titles than the same elite mission over and over again for same drops that keep lossing value. Titles keep this game afloat, people want progress on something. On the other side, having titles that seem unobtainable also losses players. This update IMO is needed for the pain in the butt titles like wisdom, teasure hunter, unlucky, kurzick and luxon. The grind for these are excessive.
Noticed i didn't mention lucky, it only requires 10k sucessful lockpicks, and can be supplimented with afk farming every so often. Unlucky requires 20k unsucessful lockpicks, double the work, and at the cost of 30 mil.

Aside from the ludicrous requirements of a few aforementioned title tracks, the thing I despise most is that the title system inhibits the ability to maintain multiple characters. Does anyone want to max out Norn or Lightbringer half a dozen times? No. It's a total waste of effort in the sense that it does nothing to provide enjoyment or fun.
I don't mind the checklist titles so much, but the ones that are essentially "Go to a specific area and clear it 216 times over until this purple bar fills up" have no place in what was supposed to be a casual-friendly environment.

If that's a really large segment, then it makes sense to reduce title grind to something manageable. Yes it makes GWAMM less elite, but if enough completionists don't even care how elite or not the title is, then it makes sense to put it in easier reach.

Exactly why i'm for this update. I am an armour w h o r e and i would like my toons to have a bunch of the cooloer looking ones. I'm not fond of haivng to grind all my toons to lvl 5 reps on the same title track to get armor.
/still mad that im stuck at 99.9% on GTA: Vice City.

IMO, raise GW:EN rep and make them account wide. When I say raise, I mean to the point where if you play through the game on every character you're say, two NM books + one HM book from max. Why is this beneficial (though by no means perfect)? It encourages you to play through GW:EN on 8 characters and spread the completion books across the title tracks. Play through with half of your 8 characters on HM or do dungeons and you're maxed with the added benefit of having played all characters. I didn't do the math on any of that, but I hope you see what I'm going for.
Speculation: the most likely titles to be changed are the Core character based titles with the exception of Survivor and Maxed titles. Making these account wide without changing the values makes life a bit easier without making the titles weaksauce.
Just some random thoughts. I guess we'll find out in this "maybe" "massive" "update" in "November."

And yet a lot of players quit the game right after getting GWAMM as they feel as they have "accomplished" what they needed to in the game. Kinda ironic.
And ya I would rather do the same elite areas over and over again in a cooperative gameplay with a team of guildies, than to go afk in a ring, or run around maps hugging walls, or set a macro to use alcohol while Im afk, or buy unided gold and id it, or waste millions on Zkeys, or do the same HFFF run 20k+ times...etc
Need I continue?

Not really, that exactly what kept them playing. If there were no titles, like you always say, they would have been gone months ago once content has dried up.

Jenn, Kaida, markus.. just to name a few of our common friends who pretty much stopped playing right after obtaining a high rank KoaBD.

That picture of gaining 5k towards the title on buying Amber looks amusing. Please reward more for HFFF, rite?

Agreed. It'd be nice if we had someone from Anet who'd keep the community up to date with all the upcoming changes and goings on. If they only had someone like that on their staff...

My feelings exactly. By now, I've done some missions/quests/areas dozens of times. Why have I done these dozens of times? Simple... to play with players and have fun. Unfortunately, most titles appear to discourage co-op play. The main reason I stopped playing is because everybody is just working on their own titles and nobody is available to co-op with.
While I won't say that titles are bad in general, Anet really needs to rework titles so that it doesn't get in the way of co-op. Like I mentioned many times before, one way to do that is to allow players to gain any faction the player chooses while doing anything. For example, let players gain Luxon faction while doing a GWEN dungeon with other players.
For those without creativity on how this would work story-wise, there are lots of ways to make this make sense. One way is advertisement. By killing enemies in GWEN dungeons or completing missions/quests in non-Luxon areas in the name of a Luxon, you're raising Luxon's awareness. I'm sure Luxons would appreciate more support. Another way is with items. Many collector items are dropped by enemies that have no real use to a player other than merc food. Since Vanguard is always fighting with the Charrs, you'd think they could use donations. How about every time you bring them any metallic collector items that the Vanguard can use to make weapons with, you gain Vanguard point?

I dunno about that...I always kinda liked Gaile and her upbeat enthusiasm in the face of bitchyQQs and flamethrower threads. She even PMed me a time or two about things I had concerns about. She may not have always had accurate info (for which she can't be to blamr), but at least she was active and talked with us from timt-to-time...As for Regina...well...I haven't heard/seen enough from her to form an opinion yet.
On Topic: As for titles, I really am curious to see how it all plays out, but hold no expectations one way or the other. I have 15 titles maxed and have no need or desire to continue the grind. Maybe if I'm playing GW2 and discover that 20 titles give me a shiny new do-dad to fondle, I might go back to GW for a looksee, but I don't really intend to waste much time fretting over it until I know for certain it will make a damned bit o' difference.

At which time it will be completely too late and the impeding HoM lockdown will be in effect. Disallowing you to go back and add anything in it ever again.
